Pregnancy testing
If you think you may be pregnant, the first thing to do is to find out whether you really are.
A pregnancy test is the most reliable way to confirm if you are pregnant. You will need to give a urine sample, which is tested for the presence of a pregnancy hormone.
You can buy a reliable pregnancy testing kit from any pharmacy. The kits available nowadays will give you an accurate result from the first day when your period was due. Many pharmacists also offer a pregnancy testing service.
Alternatively, your GP or family planning clinic may be able to offer you a free test or you can have a pregnancy test and consultation at bpas. The test takes approximately five minutes, although your GP or family planning clinic may need to send your sample away for testing, so you may not get an instant result. If you want it, bpas can also provide specialist counselling, help and advice, whatever the result.
