Emergency Contraception
You may be able to reduce your risk of getting pregnant by using emergency contraception but you need to act promptly.
You must start taking emergency contraceptive pills within 72 hours of having unprotected sex. You can also have an emergency IUD (coil) fitted within five days of when you would expect to ovulate which can prevent pregnancy.
You can get emergency contraception from bpas, pharmacies, your GP, family planning clinics, NHS walk-in centres and some hospital accident and emergency departments.
You can get more information on emergency contraception from this PDF.
